One art, several spellings
Chinese names can be represented in the Latin alphabet in different ways. Wing Chun became the most familiar spelling internationally, while Ving Tsun is strongly associated with the terminology used by the Ving Tsun Athletic Association and many schools connected with Hong Kong teaching lines.
The Rob Ley Academy uses Ving Tsun as its primary spelling because it reflects the language of its own teaching family. We also use Wing Chun where it helps new students recognise the art and find clear information.
What matters more than spelling
A name cannot demonstrate structure, timing or sensitivity. Those qualities appear in how a practitioner stands, moves, makes contact and adapts under pressure.
When comparing schools, look at the clarity of the syllabus, the conduct of the Kwoon, the instructor's willingness to explain principles, and whether students are developing rather than simply collecting techniques.
